Library Donation

Made a donation to the library today. Returned some overdue books and was told I had to purchase one of them because there were teeth indentations on the spine of the book. Of course the purchase price was ridiculously inflated, and worse yet it wasn't even a good book! How do you explain to a three year old that books are for reading not eating?
