Last week Sara's preschool sent her home with a makeshift Easter Bonnet (paper plate with the center cut out, paper bowl inserted and glued together). Sara painted her hat purple and succeed in keeping the paint on her project this time instead of her clothes. So, over the weekend the kids were suppose to decorate their hats and bring them back to school on Tuesday.
Come on Teacher! Who do you think is going to decorate the hat? Other than using stickers how creative can a four year old be? I'm certainly not turning my kid loose with a glue gun. Let's face it, you teachers just gave us the ultimate mommy challenge, this is suburban warfare of the worse kind. Moms prepare for this moment since we arriving home from the hospitals with our little ones. By giving us this project, you just gave us the chance to show-up all the other stay-at-home moms with our creativity. There is no way we moms, can leave the reputation of our family names in the hands of our four year olds. When moms were picking up their children and reading the instructions for decoratring the hat, you could see the gleam of determination in their eye, much like a soldier being called into battle.
Of course Sara & I were a bit lax in our bonnet battle preparations. To be honest, Mom forgot about the project until about 45 minutes before school started on Tuesday. Good thing I have a well stocked craft closet! We got out the ribbon, tulling and silk flowers. In reserves we had our Rubbermaid bin of Easter decorations. We dove into action, glue gun in hand and Sara wielding the scissors. It was quick work and success was achieved.
Competiton was tough. Lots of silk flowers and plastic eggs. However I truely do think Sara had one of the cutest bonnets at the school. I would pos a picture but my husband has our computer all locked up again with a virus.
