So, when you go next door to drop something off at your neighbors, and you pet her cat, then you rub an itch in your eye...shortly after rubbing your eye you notice that it is beginning to tear.  The tears progress to a film of water over your eyeball and the itching continues to increase.  You continue to rub your eye and make an excuse to leave. 

On the short walk across your neighbor's porch to your front porch you can feel you eye swelling.  You enter your house and go immediately to the bathroom to check out what is going on.  Could something have gotten wedged under your contact?  You wash your hands, remove your contact lense,  get close to the mirror to see what is going on. Your eye now has a steady stream of water running out of it.   Its really red and distorted looking, like a science project gone wrong.  Yes your eye at this point could be a prop in a horror film movie.  Its at this point that you can feel the left side of your face, starting at the infected eyeball, slowly going numb. 

You grab the medicine basket, dumping it on the counter frantically looking for Visine or Benydrl, neither which can be found.  The numbness has now radiated all the way out to your ear and is working its way down to your jaw.  You scream for your husband to go quickly to the drug store.  He comes in to see if you are overreacting, and quickly grabs his car keys.  You know its bad at this point. 

Your thinking please let him get back quickly with medicine and you start thinking about people with sevre allergies who's airways shut off.  You grab the phone and  and lay down on the couch, thinking this could be it.  Your numbers up. 

The ten minutes your husband is gone feels like an eterinity.  Finally your knight in shining armour returns. and you load up on Bendryl and squirt half a bottle of allergy eyedrops in your eyes.
