Grapefest

Mimi would be proud of her granddaughters this past weekend. We went to a local Grapefest - more commonly known in other parts of the country as Oktoberfest. That right, Wine made right here in Big Tex. Didn't you all know that Dallas is known for their fine wine and vineyard?? No, neither did I, nor anyone else! I tried the wine last year ( $5 for a shot glass sip) and it wasn't too far off from a grape flavored vinegar. No need to worry, it won't put our favorite Two Buck Chuck out of business anytime soon.

The festival was more of an excuse to drive tourism to this little town. As for us, it was an excuse to get out of the house and enjoy a gorgeous day (finally cooling down to the upper 80's) with our friends the Wilkinsons. It was actually a very family friendly event with vendors, music, carnival rides, petting zoo and so forth.

The girls got into the spirit of the day by taking off their shoes and jumping into a barrel to stomp on the grapes. They did much better then last year, when Mommy had to take off her shoes and jump in with them. Sorry Mimi - what they were able to squish won't have made more then a half a glass of wine for you. Definitely not enough to get you and Papa through a winter in Palm Springs! Two Buck Chuck you can look forward to another profitable year!

Just Another fun adventure for the Schmitz.
