Oh Happy Days!

Did you hear the choirs of heaven this morning, the band strike up a funky beat, feel the party like atmosphere in the air?? Ok, well maybe all that only happened in my head, but it sure felt like a day to celebrate. My little one went to her very first day of preschool this morning. Hooray!!! Freedom is mine!

Surely, your next questions is "What did you do with your new found freedom?" ABSOLUTELY NOTHING, and loved it! Believe it or not I did it with my husband's blessings and encouragement -I knew there was a reason why I loved him. As soon as my husband dropped me off at home on his way in to work, I changed into a comfy t-shirt and layed around, catching up on my shows on Tivo, read a little, had lunch and took a nap. Yes, I did have a few fleeting moments of guilt as I looked around at the heaps of laundry, dirty dishes piled by the sink, pile of school paperwork on my counter, dust on every surface and a filthy kitchen floor. But the guilt quickly passed as I remembered my favorite quote by Scarlett O'Hare "Oh, I'll just worry about that tomorrow." Good quote to live by until the Health department arrives to condemn your home.

Enough about me, you probably want to know how preschool went... She did wonderful. Our getting ready to leave the house went a lot smoother then Big Sis's first day to Kindergarten. Let's back track two weeks for those who haven't heard the story....

The night before Kindergarten, we tried to be prepared and picked out our clothes the night before and hung them on the girls' bedroom doors. We discovered in the morning, while running around trying to get ready, the clothes were no where to be found. Of course this created chaos, because it was a special outfit selected especially for the first day of school. Twenty minutes were spent looking for the clothes in every possible location. What Happened? Clothes just don't disappear. We quickly began to suspect that someone under two feet tall (not mentioning any names), had gotten up in the middle of the night to roam the upstairs. In a ploy to prevent Big Sis from going to school, had taken the clothes an hid them. Never under estimate the intelligence of a two year old. She was very clever with her hiding location. She selected the one place she knew for sure Mommy would never think to look for the missing clothes, behind the Treadmill!

So needless to say this morning went much smoother. No search for clothes or any other items. Mommy actually had a hard time dropping "our peanut" off for school then she did with Big Sis. Big Sis had been use to going to daycare everyday while Mommy went off to work. Going off to Preschool really wasn't much different. Sara on the other hand had stopped daycare at 9mos. when mommy began her adventure as a stay-at-home mom. She has been with me 24/7 ever since. But she was a big girl and forgot about Mom and Dad the minute she walked into her classroom. At the end of the day the teacher said she had done great. Way to go Peanut!
