Our Head Coach of the Diva Dolls and his family were called out of town this weekend. So Paul got his time in the spotlight as head coach for the "Dolls". Not sure about his pre-game strategy, since he was out 'til 1 AM with the other Dads in the neighborhood playing Poker!
The 8 AM kickoff was a little rough for both our substitute coach and our little Diva Dolls. The Dolls definitely thrive better on a few more hours of beauty sleep. Let's just say that it didn't look like they had had their WHEATIES this morning. Coach Paul had his notebook on the sideline scribbling away, or maybe it was just a way to avoid watching the antic on the field. The line-ups couldn't have been that difficult, for there were only five players. Really not sure what he was taking notes on, their Five Years Old, for Pete's Sake! Perhaps we should have spent more time explaining which of the two nets they were suppose to be kicking towards.
If I were coach, FOCUS would be the main point I would try to teach our little players. I would teach them that they should not be looking anywhere above the knees. They wear adorable flashy socks that have sort of candy cane pattern. They can definitely distinguish their teammates from the other teams that typically wear black socks.. Our Diva Dolls are so busy looking at the coaches for directions, smiling at their parents on the sideline, checking out each others hair bows, looking at the other field to find their friends, basically anywhere but looking at the soccer ball that just happen to roll between their legs.
The game was much like watching a ping-pong game, but at a much slower pace. We somehow manage to pull out a one goal lead, winning and leaving our girls undefeated for the season. So Paul can now claim he is undefeated in his coaching career. Next week, the game is mid-afternoon so hopefully everyone will be full of a bit more spunk!

Clearly Ms Vicki has no idea how hard coaching 5 - 5 year olds. She only has to deal with two kids most days.
They executed a very complicated playbook that Ms Vicki may understand better if she actually watched the practices. Our girls hustled to the ball and did a great job. We have some work to do with goal kicks as 4 times they kicked the ball into the defensive zone. At practice last week we worked on defensive takeaways and cleaning up the garbage in front of the net and my dolls excelled at both.
We are undefeated this season and have played two really good teams. I am very proud of my Diva Dolls
